1. Whiten Teeth
When you’re preparing for a big event, you can’t forget to highlight that megawatt smile! If you’re a fan of coffee or wine, don’t forget to whiten your teeth at home or get it done professionally. This’ll ensure that you feel confident when you’re mingling and taking pictures! If you’re new to teeth whitening, give yourself a week before the event in case of any sensitivity. If you’re a teeth whitening veteran, then give it a day or so!
2. Eat Well
Did you think food would be on your list of things to do before you get ready for your event? Well, it is! Eating healthy meals beforehand will help ensure that you look and feel your best! Keep the salt to a minimum and cut down on the simple carbs like rice and white bread. Don’t forget to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and flush out toxins!
3. Sleep Well
Sleep is super important when you’re prepping for a special event! You don’t want to deal with dark circles, puffy eyes or dull skin the day of the event so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get your beauty sleep. Surprisingly enough, a couple nights of good sleep can really make a difference in the way you look and feel! If you do wake up with puffy eyes, just brew a couple of green tea bags, let them cool and apply them to your eyes for 10 minutes!
4. Deep Condition
Get your hair red-carpet ready by giving yourself a deep conditioning treatment the day of or a few days prior to the event. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes or even longer if your ends are feeling dry. This will help ensure you have silky soft strands for your big night! For some extra va-va-voom you can use a volumizing shampoo before you deep condition so you have some extra body!
5. Nix Bloat
The same day of the event as well as a few days before, avoid drinking sodas and alcohol, chewing sugar-free gum and eating any veggies that might cause gas and bloating. I know I advised you to eat well, but that doesn’t mean you have to subsist on only vegetables! You can enjoy fish, chicken, quinoa and the occasional salad. Just make sure you’re not filling up on foods that can cause bloat!
6. Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin is an important skin care step you can’t forget! Gently exfoliate your face and body and follow up with a moisturizer. If you’re going to sport a spray tan, do so after you exfoliate and do it at least a few days before the event. If you’re new to spray tans, you might want to do a practice run before so you know what to expect!
7. It’s All in the Details
Get ready, it’s almost time for the special day! Take care of details like getting your mani/pedi and make sure you have all the beauty products you need. Also, be sure you have the right undergarments for your dress. If you want, go through a practice run with your hair, makeup and dress so you make any changes if needed!
This list will vary depending on the event and what you’re doing, but eating and sleeping well are still top priorities no matter what! It’s important to stay on top of all these things but you want to have a good time above all else, so try not to stress too much! You’ve got this, now have a fabulous time! Let us know how you get ready for big events, too!
