1

They’re Good for the Environment

One of the most important things to know about organic beauty products is that they are often better for the environment than their counterparts. Just like when farmers grow food, those that plant and nurture the things that go into organic beauty products, they are under strict regulations regarding growing practices. That means you can usually be assured that an organic product was grown without a bunch of harmful chemicals and safe growing practices.

2

Fewer Chemicals

Speaking of chemicals, many beauty products are chock full of them. Have you ever read through the ingredients list on your favorite one? Some of those are good for your skin and body, while others you could probably do without. Choosing organic beauty products means you are exposed to fewer chemicals, which in turn is good for both your internal and external beauty.

3

Natural Isn’t the Same

Don’t make the mistake of assuming that a “natural” product is also organic. Sometimes that’s true, but not always. Natural means that a beauty product contains an ingredient that was grown in nature, but that doesn’t always mean it isn’t altered or enhanced before being added to your beauty products. Make sure the label says “organic” or you never know for sure.

4

Look for “All Organic”

A product might claim it’s made with organic ingredients, and that is probably true, but that doesn’t mean everything in the item is organic. If you want a 100% truly organic product, you need to be sure the label says so and that the company can back that up, which means the appropriate authorities have checked on the company and made sure they are who they say they are.

5

Might Not Be More Effective

While it’s true that organic beauty products might be better for the environment and light on weird ingredients, that doesn’t make them better. There are certain proven products that you can use for your myriad of beauty needs, but choosing organic means you might not be getting the full benefit. It pays to research ingredients, products and beauty companies to be sure you are getting the items you want and are paying for.

6

Not Regulated

While the United States Food and Drug Administration does declare organic ingredients in beauty products as generally safe, they don’t regulate them for use as a beauty product. While they do keep an eye out for potentially dangerous or harmful ingredients, they don’t watch beauty items the same way they do food items. That doesn’t mean they are bad, but simply that you should be sure you know what you’re getting.

7

Allergies

Even if you’ve never had an allergic reaction to a beauty product before, you are still at risk when you try anything new. If an organic product contains an ingredient you’ve never been exposed to before, you may still have a reaction to it. Be aware of this and always test a new product before slathering it all over your body.
