1. Condition Your Hair

There are lots of beauty techniques that help your hair while you're sleeping. Conditioning your hair is a fantastic way to keep it healthy, lush, and gorgeous. You can do this so many ways, such as by shopping for leave-in conditioners or serums from your favorite brands, or making your own with DIY recipes. If you wrap your hair in a scarf or use a night cap or shower cap, you won't do any damage to your sheets or pillowcases.

2. Keep Your Hands Soft

Do you suffer from chapped or dry hands? If you spend a lot of time washing your hands – nurses, doctors, and moms, I'm looking at you! – then your skin is probably dry, maybe even painfully cracked. The problem with keeping your hands soft and supple is that, no matter what you do, you use them often, and more likely than not you end up washing off whatever cream you apply. Here's a beauty technique that will work for you: apply your hand cream at night, right before you go to sleep. Put on some cuticle oil too, if you've a mind. Then, you have two choices: you can either leave your hands alone and let the cream soak into your skin, or you can wear a pair of light, white cotton gloves. They keep the lotion from rubbing off, help it absorb better, and make your hands even smoother. If your hands are really bad, use a more intense foot cream instead!

Frequently asked questions

3. Perfectly Pretty Feet

Your feet need just as much care as your hands, especially in the summertime. If you tend to walk around barefoot (ahem, AHEM), then you need double the care. While you're sleeping, just follow the same tip as above – but substitute white cotton socks for gloves, of course. If your toes get hot, just cut off the toes – no problem! The arches and heels of your feet will still absorb all that lovely hydration.

4. Eye Bags Be Gone

If you suffer from bags or dark circles around your eyes, I have some fantastic beauty techniques for you to try! Get rid of any puffiness by sleeping in an elevated position, preferably on your back (more on that in a bit). Moisturizer under your eyes can get rid of bags and dry skin. It's better to look for something specifically meant for your eyes so you can get the right formula. Sometimes regular facial creams are a bit too greasy. Certain natural oils, like avocado or almond, work very well. Vitamins E and A and very good as well.

5. Perfecting a Plush Pout

Your lips need nightly beauty tips, too! Chapped lips are a common but annoying problem. Fortunately, there are things you can do as you sleep that will help you wake up with a soft, supple, luscious pout. All this takes is a quality balm, applied right before you head to sleep. In the morning, a little exfoliation goes a long way.

6. Bye Bye Blemishes

If you suffer from acne or simple pimples, here's a great beauty tip for you. Some zinc or tea tree oil applied before you go to sleep should zap them as you slumber. You need something with antibacterial properties, because it gets rid of the bacteria that causes zits to spread. If your blemishes are really bad, go with something a bit stronger, like benzoyl peroxide – just don't overdo it!

7. Create Creamy Skin

If you're just looking for creamy, soft skin in general, there are several things you can do. Glycolic acid gets rid of dead and dry skin, so look for a cream or lotion containing it. It should also have plenty of antioxidants, for extra protection. Just be rigorous with your skin care routine. Doing it before you go to bed gives the cream the perfect opportunity to set in, so you'll see a difference in a few days.

8. Try a New Position

A lot of beauty techniques are incredibly simple. This one simply involves sleeping in a new position. When you sleep on your side, you're more apt to get facial lines – soon those sleep lines may become permanent! The same is true for sleeping on your stomach, since your face is generally turned to the side in that position as well. If it's possible, sleep on your back. Experiment with your pillows to make sure you're comfortable. Like I mentioned before, slight elevation is really helpful too.

9. Farewell to Facial Lines

If worse comes to worst and you do get facial lines, try this! Just make sure you have a serum, lotion, or cream that contains retinol, vitamin A, or both. It's a great idea to do this before you go to sleep, so you won't run the risk of any sun damage. While there are strong prescription serums, you'll easily be able to find something OTC as well.

If you use these beauty techniques each night, you'll wake up feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, and oh so beautiful. As you can see, they're relatively simple. You definitely don't have to spend a lot of money to do them. Yet the results are amazing, so any effort put forth is absolutely worth it. What are some of your favorite beauty sleep techniques? Whether you just make sure to get plenty of sleep or if there's a special product you like to use, we'd love to hear about it!
