1

Forget Fibers

Generally, beauty tips for sensitive eyes will discourage the use of fiber mascaras. Fiber mascaras use fibers to lengthen lashes, which can fall into your eyes and irritate them. If you’re determined to have lengthened lashes, consider switching to lengthening mascaras (without fibers) or try volumizing mascaras. Both formulas emphasize lashes and really help lashes stand out!

Hands off

Let’s not limit these beauty tips to just tips on makeup for sensitive eyes. Many of us also have sensitive skin around our eyes that require our attention and care too! Experts recommend applying eye creams and treatments about an hour before bed to avoid waking up with irritated or swollen eyes. Also, avoid touching the area too often and as always, don’t stretch or pull on your skin!

3

Care for Tools

You can easily irritate sensitive eyes by using beauty tools that are dirty or products that have been contaminated. It’s good to use makeup for sensitive eyes but don’t forget to always keep applicators clean and keep products tightly closed or covered to avoid contamination and infection. Sensitive eyes are susceptible to infections so let’s do our part to keep them healthy!

4

Cream is Queen

Beauty tips for sensitive eyes also include using certain types of eye makeup. Powder eye shadows are easy to use and possibly the most popular type of eye shadow but for sensitive eyes, cream is queen! Instead of using dusty powder eye makeup that can fall into eyes, use cream shadows. Cream shadows are long lasting, easy to blend and look just as good as other formulas!

5

Drop It like It’s Hot

If you use eye drops for dry eyes, one of the useful beauty tips to follow is to apply your eye drops, then wait at least a half hour before putting on makeup. The point is to moisten up your eyes as much as possible before you apply makeup to avoid irritating your eyes. Also, steer clear of drop that reduce redness because they can actually make dry eyes feel worse!

Look for Long-wearing

When you’re looking for eye makeup for sensitive eyes, look for formulas that are water-resistant or smudge-proof formulas over waterproof types. Waterproof formulas are stubborn and a huge pain to remove, so all that extra rubbing can irritate eyes. If you normally don’t require a long-wearing formula, look for hypo-allergenic eye makeup or brands like Jane Iredale with natural ingredients that won’t bother sensitive eyes.

7

Know Where to Draw the Line

If you use eyeliner, optometrist Susan Resnick recommends against applying eyeliner directly on the lash line or waterline. Avoid applying liner on your lash line to prevent blocking meibomian glands which produce oils that are imperative to healthy eyes. Blockage of these glands can cause dry eyes and styes. If you like to line your bottom eye area, she suggests lining underneath the lash line to avoid irritation.

Go Oil-free

So we’ve talked about makeup for sensitive eyes, but what about when we want to remove it all? NYMag beauty editor Christina Han recommends using oil-free eye makeup remover to avoid getting oil and leftover eye makeup in eyes or hang on to lashes from eye makeup removers containing oil. She recommends Almay’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover pads or Klorane’s Soothing Eye Makeup Remover.

Whether you have dry eyes or sensitive eyes, there are definitely ways you can still wear your favorite beauty products! As long as we take care to use them the right way, we can still rock our favorite eye makeup looks while protecting our eyes. Do you have any beauty tips for sensitive eyes?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I find the beauty-tube mascaras to be the best. I have severe pigment allergies and the beauty tube kind doesn't smudge but it easily slides off with warm water without leaving allergy-inducing residue.

Waterproof mascara a tend to flake more, getting into eyes and irritating them. Us its harder to remove no matter how good your makeup remover is, causing rubbing irritation. Allow the makeup remover to set on eyes for a minute or so before wiping off! Less rubbing

Your born with your regular eyes so don't do anything that will change that
