Praise Worthy Tips to Help Rehab All Your Beauty Crimes ...

We’re all guilty of at least one beauty crime. Luckily, you don’t have to suffer through punishment for them. However, your health or looks might take a hit when you commit one of these crimes. Fortunately, you can go through rehab for those crimes and become rehabilitated so that you can move forward crime-free. All joking aside, there are some things we’ve all done, but instead of freaking out, use these tips to make things right. I promise it’s not hard to do and you’ll be so glad you got it done.

1 You Left Your Nail Polish on Too Long

Even if it still looks good, the experts say you shouldn’t wear polish all the time because it can weaken your nails and leave them discolored. You can fix things by taking a couple of weeks off from polish. This gives your nails a chance to recover from the ingredients in the polish so they don’t get weak and break. I know it sucks to go without polish, but you’ll be glad you did it.

2 You Weren’t Diligent about the Sunscreen

You know that skipping the sunscreen puts you at risk for skin cancer, not to mention it can make you look older by creating fine lines, wrinkles and sun spots. While it’s not a good idea to go without sun protection ever, you can do a bit of rehab to fix the problem. Talk to your dermatologist about a retinol cream that can help repair damage and ward of discoloration.

3 You Feel like Your Face is Clean, so You Don’t Wash

If you skip the makeup for the day, you might think you don’t need to cleanse. That couldn’t be further from the truth. If you leave your house (and likely even if you don’t), your face picks up all sorts of grime, germs, bacteria and other junk during the day. You need to wash it off or you risk breakouts and other skin issues. The fix is simple – make washing your face at least once a day part of your regular routine.

4 You Wear Your Hair in a Ponytail Day after Day

Once I heard how bad this is, I went and had my hair cut short so I couldn’t do this to my hair anymore. I definitely prefer my hair longer, but I tend to throw it up every day so it’s out of my face. This can damage your strands by pulling and breaking them, which can lead to split ends and frizzy hair. If you don’t want to cut your hair, wear it down as much as possible and when you do wear it up, make sure you use soft, cloth ponytail holders.

5 You Skip Moisturizer

Whether you’re climbing out of the pool or you’re stepping out of the shower, it’s vital to slather on the moisturizer immediately after you dry off. When your hair is damp, it holds on to lotion better and creates a nice barrier that locks it in so that you don’t have to suffer with dry, flaky and scaly skin. No one wants that! Here’s another simple fix – just carry lotion to the pool and put a bottle on your tub so that you never forget to put it on.

6 You Wear Antiperspirant in Huge Amounts

You should definitely be wearing deodorant because it helps mask odor and fight bacteria when you sweat. Antiperspirant is similar but it prevents you from sweating. But, they can really dry out the skin in your armpits, which can lead to irritation and burning when you apply the product later. Use some hydrocortisone cream to soothe your pits and try swiping on deodorant a couple of times during the day to keep things under control.

7 You Didn’t do a Strand Test First

I’ll tell you a story. I once wanted to dye my hair red so badly that I just went for it on my own without a strand test. Long story short – I had bright purple hair for weeks before it faded out. You have to do a strand test if you’re using a home color. If you didn’t, try using another shade of dye to counteract it, but you may just want to cut your losses and let a pro fix it.

Which of these beauty mistakes have you made? What did you do to fix the problem?
