Low Ponytail

Low Ponytail Until now, the high ponytail has been the ponytail of choice for many, but now is the time for the low pony to shine! This is one of the hair and beauty trends for spring 2014 that you can wear any time and is so easy to create. The trick to making the low pony look more glam and less grunge is to make sure you slick back the front of your hair. No need to gel it down, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t have any lumps or flyaways present.

Blue Eye Makeup

Blue Eye Makeup Blue eye makeup was major at spring fashion shows. Models from brands like Marc Jacobs to Badgley Mischka were wearing blue eyeliner or blue eye shadow. Some of the shades were very light and subtle, whereas some of the other looks were very bold. If you’re not too keen on blue eye shadow, you can always try a bold blue cat eye or lining your waterline with blue. It’s a great alternative to black or brown and will really make your eyes stand out.

Sleek Hair

Sleek Hair If you’re tired of curls or waves, you’ll be glad to hear that sleek, straight hair was huge on spring runways. Forget the volumizer and your teasing comb, you can easily be on-trend with very little to no volume and your trusty flat iron. Models from Miu Miu, Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Burberry Prorsum and Donna Karan were seen with straight hair that was almost flat and worn very close to the scalp.

Bold Lips

Bold Lips If you’re looking for a bold lip color that’s fresh and fabulous for spring, orange is where it’s at. Orange lips were seen on models from Donna Karan and Prabal Gurung and they packed a powerful punch. If orange isn’t your thing, not to worry, another spring beauty trend was candy-colored lips in bubblegum pink and cherry red.

Tousled Locks

Tousled Locks I know, I just got finished saying straight hair was hot for spring, but effortless, tousled hair was also a runway favorite. The key is not to create perfect waves, but to sport a soft, textured hair that’s equal parts low-key and stylish. To try out this look, after you wash your hair dry it until it’s almost but not completely dry, and spray a texturizing spray on strands. Alternatively, you can create two braids in your hair before you go to bed and wake up to natural-looking waves.

Wash of Color

Wash of Color Give your dark eye shadows a rest and give your lids a sheer wash of color for a change. Models rocked gorgeous pastel and nude shades that were a welcome change from the standard smoky eye. Try pinks, violets, greens or even a sheer bronze. Just be sure the application is sheer and soft so your eye makeup is very soft, sweet and reminiscent of spring!

Hair Accessories

Hair Accessories Think hair accessories are just for little girls or music festivals? They’re actually quite sophisticated and chic if you know how to pick ‘em. Flower garlands as well as headbands and scarves were seen on many a model and for us non-model folks, they’re the perfect way to disguise a bad hair day or jazz up your hair when you’re pressed for time.

Purple Makeup

Purple Makeup Pantone’s Color of the Year was out in full force on the spring runways. Radiant orchid as well as its other purple counterparts could be seen on lots of lips, eyes and nails. If purple isn’t one of the hues you normally wear, why not try orchid-colored nails, lilac eye shadow or lavender liner? Girly, fresh and wickedly enchanting for spring soirees.

Imperfect Hair

Imperfect Hair Here’s another spring hair trend that I can really get behind, imperfect hair! There are some occasions that call for precise, perfect hair and other times we can rock braids, updos and a number of other hairstyles that are a little messy and a whole lot of fun. If you try an updo, make sure you let some strands loose. If you go for a braid, don’t worry if it’s not completely even, let it be a little messy and undone.

The hair and beauty trends for spring 2014 are very classy, feminine and quite wearable. I can totally see myself wearing some of these trends, how about you? Are there are any other runway trends you saw that you love or are going to try?
