7 New Beauty Trends for Spring 2014 ...

By Alyssa

It can be hard to know what’s in style for the new year, so I’ve complied a list of new beauty trends for spring 2014. I mean we just got used to the beauty trends of spring 2013! Don’t worry - I’ve got you covered. Try out (or laugh at, your choice) the new beauty trends for spring 2014.

1 Think Pink Eyes

Think Pink EyesI start with the newest of the new beauty trends for spring 2014 with the eyes, and in this case a little floral inspiration. When you think of spring you think of tiny little flowers starting to blossom. At least I do. Pink always puts me into a warm mood, so the fact that it’s the latest beauty trend on areas other than the lips and cheeks makes me happy. Pink doesn’t have to make you look like an allergy attack either. Try Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Ballet Pink.

2 Purple Eyelids

Purple EyelidsConsidering it’s the Pantone color of the year, it’s no wonder purple (orchid) has found its way to the beauty counter. Recently we’ve been seeing purplish tones in lip colors. And I have to admit, the eye color reminds me of a makeup kit I had when I was a kid. But it’s my favorite color - so I digress. You can wear it subtly for an easy twist, or bold for a stand out style. Try Sephora’s Sephora Collect MicroSmooth Baked Eyeshadow Trio in Ultraviolet. It comes with three shades, so you can figure out what works best for you.

3 Bright Orange Lips

Bright Orange LipsI know what you’re thinking. Didn’t we already do orange lipstick!? Well folks it’s back, except this time it’s with a vengeance. That’s what makes it new (and the fact that it’s pure orange with no red). It’s been electrified, and if you want to be bold, this is the color for you! Try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Beta for this trend.

4 Graphic Eyeliner

Graphic EyelinerMy God! I’ve just mastered the cat eye! And now you want me to be all graphic and artistic with it? Good thing I studied art in college. Now the trend is about showing your skills and bringing the runway your way. YouTube this for some tips (I know I have to). It’s possible to do some easy lines on top of each other to make the trend work, but try a liquid eyeliner pen like Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye liner to make your job a bit easier.

5 Blue Eyes

Blue EyesOMG! Remember when you were first trying out makeup and you thought that the quintessential eye color was blue, so you covered your lids all over with it? I do. And just like you I shudder at the old school photos that make me look like an 80s prom gone wrong. It is quite possible to do this without looking like a middle school makeover gone wrong. Try an eyeliner like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide - On Eye Pencil in Abyss.

6 White Eyeliner

White EyelinerSo you’ve heard that white eyeliner can make you look super-rested right? You haven’t? Well consider this your wake up call. Your wake up and look-like-you-slept-10-hours call! White eyeliner, especially around the inner corners of your eyes, can make you look bright eyed and bushy tailed. And the modern formulas don’t have to make you look like a total 90’s throw back. Try Nars’ Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Santa Monica Blvd.

7 Barefaced

BarefacedThat’s right! You no longer have to wear makeup! All those celebrity "no makeup" selfies have started a new trend! I’m just kidding - you still have to wear makeup. But the trend is to only use your concealer and foundation, keeping the other cosmetic products very neutral or non-existent. Which wasn’t that what we women were kind of trying for to begin with? Or just me?

So now you can start putting your spring cosmetic wardrobe into action, it’s never to early to start! Just because there’s snow on the ground, and that darn groundhog is still hibernating, doesn't mean you can’t get started. Besides you deserve a spring cosmetics shopping spree - because I said so. So what do you think of these new trends?
