1

Use a Whitening Toothpaste

If you want to maintain your smile after whitening, use a whitening toothpaste. It’ll help you to keep your teeth in the state they’re in right after whitening. There’re many different whitening toothpastes that you can choose from. Two that I really like are Crest Vivid White and Colgate Luminous White. I’ve had a lot of success with both of these.

2

Skip Drinks That Stain

You know the ones we’re talking about here: coffee, tea, sodas and red wine. These beverages will tarnish your beautifully white smile. Of course it’s best if you can give them up altogether. If that isn’t an option for you, try to only enjoy them on occasion. You can also try sipping them through a straw which helps the staining beverage to by-pass your teeth.

3

Crunch on Some Veggies

This is something I discovered as I did research for this article. Raw veggies can be great at helping you maintain your smile. The crunchy texture of the vegetable will act like a scrubbing sponge, helping to remove any stains that may be trying to form on your teeth. This is another good reason to crunch on some veggies instead of potato chips. Not only are they good for your health but they help keep your smile beautifully white.

4

Brush or Rinse after Staining Foods and Beverages

If you’re going indulge in foods or beverages that stain your teeth, make sure that you brush them or at least rinse your mouth after having them. This makes sure that none of the staining foods or beverages hang around to continue to stain your teeth. This can be difficult to do if you aren’t at home. If that’s the situation then you can drink a bottle of water afterward to wash away the food or beverage. After a while this will be a habit you won’t even have to think about.

5

Don’t Smoke

Smoking is bad on so many different levels. You know it’s bad for your health. It can also make you age prematurely as well as staining your teeth. No amount of brushing or rinsing is going to remove all of the stains from smoking. If you smoke, make every effort to quit in order to maintain your beautifully white smile.

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Practice Good Oral Hygiene

Good oral hygiene is a big key in maintaining your smile. This is a really simple way to help keep your teeth white. Brush three times a day and floss regularly. It can also help to use a good rinsing agent such as Listerine or Crest Pro-health. There are even rinsing agents that help you to keep your smile white.

Go for Your Dental Check-ups

When you visit your dentist for a checkup, they do several things to make sure that your teeth are healthy. One of those things is to clean your teeth. The dentist can always clean your teeth better than you can at home because they have special equipment to do it with. You’ll notice that your smile is pretty and white after a dental checkup. It isn’t always fun to visit the dentist but the results are worth it.

These are 7 things you can do to help maintain your smile after having your teeth whitened. Do you have any tricks to maintaining a white smile? I hope you’ll share them here!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Avoid coffee and tea as they stain and don't forget to floss as plaque accumulated inter-proximally can make your whole smile look dull. Most dentists also give top-up whitening trays and kits. Also, most whitening toothpastes use a higher level of silica to create a slightly more abrasive paste which removed stains, not necessarily changing the colour of your actual teeth, however, Colgate optic white does contain a small amount of hydrogen peroxide which is the same ingredient most dental professionals use to whiten your actual teeth :)

Thanks for sharing the fabulous tips for  gorgeous smile. Whitening can be very effective way of lightening your teeth color and can boost your self-image and open doors. Hydrogen peroxide is actually recommended by many dentists. Good and balanced article.
