1. H2Ohh Baby

Hydrated skin is youthful, glowing skin. Dry skin leads to cracks and wrinkles. To keep skin hydrated drink at least 2 litres of water daily. I cannot stress enough how important it is to drink enough water - but I'll try! DRINK A LOT OF WATER! Start with a big glass of water in the morning, preferably with a squeeze of lemon. Get extra hydration by consuming omega-3 fatty acids found in sources like flax and hemp seeds, walnuts and fish oil (Udo's Oil is an excellent vegan-friendly alternative).

2. Moistur-Eyes

Another way to hydrate the eye area is from the outside by using a moisturizer or serum. Don't forget to use one with an SPF during the day! (In fact, throw on a pair on sunglasses as well to prevent additional sun damage). For nighttime, look for a product containing vitamin A and K to help prevent or reduce the appearance of crow's feet. The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and most delicate of your entire body, so take extra care when applying any products. Use your ring finger for the lightest pressure and eyed tap that if I were you!

3. Prime Time

Keep eyes looking in their "prime ob lime", as "Friends" character Chandler Bing would say, by using an eye primer on your lids. An eye primer diminishes the appearance of fine lines by filling in any creases where makeup can settle. It also allows for smooth and long-lasting makeup application!

4. Lighten up

Time to pull out your concealed weapon in the war against dark under-eye circles! I'm talking, of course, about the magic that is concealer. Choose a creamy concealer with yellow undertones to neutralize dark, purple hues. For an extra boost before makeup application, fight bags with bags - eye bags with tea bags! After brewing and allowing to cool, place green tea bags on the tops of your eye lids for a few minutes. The combination of the cold compress with the caffeine from the tea will constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling.

5. Walk the Line with Liner

Opt for using eyeliner on your upper lash line only. Using a dark liner under the eyes draws attention to existing lines and wrinkles. It also makes the eyes appear smaller. Younger looking eyes are associated with being wide-eyed so use only lighter shades below, and always wear an eye-opening mascara.

6. PopEYE

To get eyes to pop full of life, channel your inner Popeye and eat your spinach! Iron deficiency causes dark circles and bags to form under the eyes due to reduced oxygen supply. Iron-rich foods such as dark leafy greens, spirulina, beans and dark chocolate (woo hoo!) minimize the risk of developing a deficiency or anemia, and keep your eyes and your entire body healthy.

7. Just Browsing

Remember that time when you decided to experiment with plucking and waxing your own brows, and you ended up looking a little more "Whoppi Goldberg" than you intended? Those days are over, honey! Leave the major brow shaping in the hands of the pros to avoid any future mishaps. Thick, full eyebrows are youthful. Over-tweezing gives the misconception that your eyebrow hair is falling out or thinning - a classic sign of aging. So, put the tweezers down and back away slowly!

The best beauty and youth trick of all for inhibiting dark under-eye circles, puffiness and wrinkle formation, is a deep and restful 7-9 hours of sleep a night. But this is the real world! And in the real world of restless nights and lack of time, reaching for some quick tips can be ... eyedeal!
