1. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!

The most important of my winter beauty tips is to use lots of moisturiser. Your face and hands will be exposed to cold winds and the drying effect of central heating. Moisturise your face twice a day to protect it. Look after your hands by applying hand cream regularly and wearing gloves when you go out.

It’s not just your skin that suffers in the cold weather – your hair can protest at the conditions as well! And who hasn’t suffered the dreaded “hat hair”? So use a conditioner on your hair; you may also benefit from a serum to help keep unruly locks under control.

3. Don’t Overdo Partying

Christmas may only come once a year, but celebrate it with too many parties and your skin will show the effects. Keep your alcohol intake down and try to avoid too many late nights. And remember to remove your makeup, no matter how tired you are when you get home, or you’ll end up with dull skin and blocked pores. It only takes a few minutes.

It’s very tempting to let our normal beauty routine slide when everything’s covered up! After all, why bother waxing your legs if nobody is going to see them? It certainly feels nicer to have fuzz-free legs and underarms though. Also your body can get dry skin as well, so use some body moisturiser after a shower or bath.

Your poor lips can really suffer in the winter weather. They have no natural oils, so are prone to chapping. Then we lick them because they are dry, which makes things worse. So protect them with lipstick, and use balm or moisturiser when you don’t have lipstick on.

By following these tips, you can survive the winter chill and look as good as if it were summer. Adapt your routine if necessary, for example by using a richer moisturiser if your skin becomes drier.
