They might be kept under wraps most of the time, but that doesn’t mean you should be neglecting your breasts. They are covered with skin like the rest of your body, so you need to take great care of them. It’s not hard to do and will result in soft, silky skin all over your body, instead of just the skin that is exposed. Use these handy tips to keep the skin on your breasts as soft as they can be.
1. Exfoliate Your Breasts Regularly
The skin on your breasts can ssuffer from clogged pores and all the other skin woes that the rest of your body might suffer from. You need to exfoliate your breasts on a regular basis. Use a very gentle product since the skin your breasts is thinner and more delicate than on other parts of your body. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and product buildup so that your skin is smooth and healthy.
2. Apply Lotion a Couple of Times Each Day
It’s particularly important to slather on lotion after you get out of the shower because the dampness of your skin will help seal in the moisture, allowing it to absorb into the skin on your breasts. Use a good quality body lotion at least once a day, but more is great if you have dry or flaky skin on your breasts.
3. Add a Dab of Your Facial Cream to Your Breasts
When I apply facial cream to my face, I usually spread it down over my chest area too. The thin skin on your breasts is similar that on your face, so it pays to treat it the same way. Your facial cream will help fight wrinkles and fine lines on your chest just like it does on your face. It only takes a second or two to do this and you’ll be so glad you did it.
4. Never Go out without Sunscreen
If the sun is going to be shining on any part of your breasts, you should be wearing sunscreen. That includes your cleavage. Even if they aren’t hanging out, the sun can shine down your shirt if you’re hanging out outside. Slather your girls with sunscreen and you won’t have to worry about a sunburn or the signs of aging on your breasts.
5. Try Sleeping on Your Back if You Can
Experts say that sleeping on your side or stomach pulls and pushes on the skin that covers your breasts and chest area. This can lead to wrinkles over time, so it’s a good idea to sleep on your back whenever you can. I guess I’m doomed because I can’t sleep like that, but if you can, you’re golden!
6. Eat a Healthy and Well-Balanced Diet
Your skin relies on the right foods to stay strong, healthy and youthful. You can keep the skin on your breasts, as well as the rest of your body, in top shape by eating a variety of foods from each food group. Of particular importance is protein, which you can get from lean meats, beans and eggs. You also want to get omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. You can get these nutrients from fish and nuts, as well as foods fortified with the nutrients. Eating healthy is also beneficial for other reasons so it should definitely be your priority.
7. See Your Dermatologist at Least Once a Year
Making a yearly appointment with your dermatologist means you have someone on your side when it comes to the health of your breasts. (You should also see your OB/GYN for this reason). A derm can check for spots or lesions that need more attention and can give you tips and products that will help you keep the skin that covers your chest and breasts as healthy as possible.
