1

Face Wash

One of the most efficient and green uses of baking soda is as a face wash. Dilute 2 teaspoons of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of warm water in a bowl and mix to a soft paste with your finger. Wet your face with warm water and apply the paste in a gentle circular motion. Rinse thoroughly and pat your face dry with a soft towel. It’s a great way to remove make-up.

2

Teeth Whitening

There’s no need to spend lots of money on expensive toothpastes and whitening kits because one of the ways to use baking soda that has been around for centuries is as whitening toothpaste. Mix together a small amount of baking soda and salt and use it to clean your teeth. Rinse well afterwards. Baking soda is also a natural breath freshener.

3

Exfoliator

You don’t need grit and roughness to be effective and that’s why one of the nicest uses of baking soda is as an exfoliator. To revitalize and smooth the tired skin on your hands, elbows and feet, mix together 3 parts baking soda with 1 part water to make a paste and apply with a gentle circular motion before rinsing off.

4

Dry Shampoo

So many of the ways to use baking soda are so great because they can produce the same results as expensive proprietary toiletries, at a fraction of the cost. If you need a quick and easy way to freshen up your hair and don’t have time to wash it, sprinkle some baking soda and talcum powder on your hairbrush and comb through. The baking soda will absorb the excess oil.

5

Bath Soak

Baking soda is a natural cleanser, so add half a cup to your bath water. It will not only cleanse, but also leave your skin feeling silky and smooth. A note for those with very dry skin: baking soda is alkaline, so be sure to rinse well to avoid any irritation from residue.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Sunburn Relief

One of the uses of baking soda that I learned while compiling this list is that it works to relieve sunburned skin. Make a sloppy paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the burned area. You can also bathe in it as in the previous point, and I also read the suggestion that you can dissolve some baking soda in warm water, then chill it in a spray bottle in the fridge and use it as a cooling spritz

7

Foot Soak

In water as hot as you can bear, dissolve 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of salt. Soak your feet and relax for 15-20 minutes. The mixture will remove all the grime and grunge from your feet. To really give them a pampering, use the exfoliating paste as described earlier.

8

Hair Shampoo

If you use a lot of styling products or wash your hair every day, residue will build up over time and leave it looking dull and lifeless. The active ingredients mean that one of the uses of baking soda is as an alternative to shampoo, removing the product build-up. In a small squeezy bottle with nozzle applicator, mix 1 part baking soda with 3 parts water. Shake well then apply to your hair by starting at the roots and working down to the tips. Leave on for 2-3 minutes then rinse well with warm water.

9

Nail Scrub

Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto a damp nail brush and use it to clean under your nails and around the cuticles. You can do this on finger and toe nails. It will leave your cuticles soft and your nails shiny.

10

Deodorant

If you're looking for an all-natural alternative to deodorant, whip up this easy baking soda deodorant to stay clean and fresh. Combine 4 tablespoons of baking soda with about 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice and apply it to your underarms with a brush.

11

Remove Product Buildup

Baking soda is fantastic at removing oil and product buildup in our hair and it can do the same for our combs and brushes. Fill up a bowl with warm water and add about 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix and soak your combs and brushes for a quick cleanup.

I'd love to hear if you have tried any of these ways to use baking soda, or maybe you have some more suggestions?

Thx for the tips!!

Great tips will try in the morning

I use it with an essential oil as deodorant and it works better than most drugstore deodorants.

Thank you so much for this ! It whitened my teeth so much :)

Great & very informative article. Thank you Neecey!

How do I use it to whiten my teeth? Should I mix with toothpaste or directly apply it?

Could I also use baking soda as an exfoliator on my face.?
